"Painting for me is about light, memory and the senses. It is also about contagion of shapes and forms, horizontal and vertical stability, rhythms, overlaps, repetitions, variations, juxtapositions, contiguities, ambiguities, clarity, tonal contrasts, volume, textures, color assemblies, and geometries that catch the light."
-Richard Lennox

The son of an accomplished furniture designer, Richard Lennox has been painting since grade school. For many years, he ran the family business, Lennox Furniture, just north of Lambertville, New Jersey. In the late 1990s, he sold the business in order to devote himself full-time to painting. Not long after, he moved into his father's eighteenth-century farmhouse in Bucks Country, drawn to the scenic banks of the Delaware River like so many artists before him. He frequently explores the river towns along the Delaware for inspiration, taking a camera with him to record his sensations.

Lennox graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1966. He has exhibited at numerous museums, including the Delaware Art Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, the Woodmere Art Museum, the Hunterdon Museum, and the Allentown Art Museum. Galleries that have displayed his work include the Cheltenham Art Center, the Marion Locks Gallery, the Peale House, Phillips' Mill, Artworks, the Coryell Gallery, Rosenfeld Gallery, Ruth Morpeth, and the Somerville Manning Gallery.
